About Me

Gurchettan ‘Chet’ Sandhu, a former drug smuggler, was arrested at gun point in 1999 at the Alicante Airport, a Spanish City. He then spent three years in a Spanish prison before returning to the UK in 2002 and being convicted for another six and a half years in an English prison. He planned to turn around his life in the UK which did not go to plan after being arrested. He was caught smuggling drugs in Alicante after arriving from Karachi, in 1999 when Interpol started to monitor him.

After 2002 he began to turn his life around and stopped smuggling and dealing drugs. After a long period of being clean Chet Sandhu wrote and published a book in 2017 titled ‘From King of Karachi to Lockdown in the Costa Del Crime: Meet the International Smuggler Who Dominated Europe’s Worst Prison Chet Sandhu’ which showed how he came to thrive in the deadly concrete world he was now living in, it was a book set to motivate peoples lives and show how you can rise up from their lowest points. In 2022 he then wrote another book titled ‘Self-Made, Dues Paid: An Asian Kid Who Became an International Drug-Smuggling Gangster Chet Sandhu’ this book details how he lived life in jail and after.

Meet the self titled ‘King of Karachi’ – a former kingpin of the UK’s murky criminal underworld.

Gurchettan ‘Chet’ Sandhu – originally from Newcastle – lived a life of luxury and hedonism until his drug smuggling empire came crashing down around him. It was then he was sent to one of Europe’s most notorious prisons in Spain, where violence and turf wars were rife.

Autobiographies

Gurchettan ‘chet’ sandhu wrote two books detailing his life ‘From King of Karachi to Lockdown in the Costa Del Crime: Meet the International Smuggler Who Dominated Europe’s Worst Prison Chet Sandhu’ and ‘Self-Made, Dues Paid: An Asian Kid Who Became an International Drug-Smuggling Gangster Chet Sandhu’ both detailing his time spent in prison and his life after he was in prison. These books are both well received and are known for giving a good insight to what life is like for someone in jail.

It also shows the great transformation of Chet Sandhu from a drug lord to a successful, clean man in everyday life.
